Fellow Jaycees--
The Michigan Jaycees Winter Assembly will be a weekend full of training, networking, recognition, and fun, as we celebrate the success we've enjoyed on our journey towards Happily Ever After in 2011 and fully embrace what it means to Write Our Future in 2012.
Friday evening kicks off with our Opening Ceremonies, which includes meeting our First Timers, your final opportunity to see the Region Flags on display, the introduction of the Top 5 Chapter Presidents of the 4th Quarter, and a whole host of awards that are normally given on Saturday. Please plan to be there!!!
Following opening ceremonies, DJ AJ will be spinning the tunes and the ballroom will play host to the games of Amerada. What is Amerada? Amerada is the longest running JCI international event, and is an annual weekend of fun and fellowship between JCI USA and JCI Canada. In 2012, Amerada is being held at Camp Dearborn in Milford, MI, hosted by Kendra Smyth and the Redford Jaycees. To give you a taste of just what Amerada is all about, Kendra and the PA team have arranged for some live demonstrations on Friday night.
Saturday morning, we will have fourth quarter competitions and three hours of training for everyone in attendance, including the first two modules of the Leadership Development Certification Program co-sponsored by WorldLink Communications and the Michigan Jaycees. At lunch, we will have our Corporate Business Meeting and the remainder of our 4th Quarter Awards.
Throughout the weekend, representatives from Mentor Michigan will be on hand to talk about the newly formed partnership between the Michgian Jaycees, Mentor Michigan, and Gov. Snyder's office. Lt. Gov Brian Calley will be speaking at lunch.
Saturday evening is the final Presidential Ball of the 2011 Year, where in addition to giving out our top awards, including the Martin P. Luthy, Thom Stark, Howard Giessenbier and CW Bill Otto Memorial Awards, we will hear from 2011 TOYA winner and Kalamazoo Jaycee Dr. Lisa Miller, an address from 88th President Sarah Nelson and farewell remarks from your 2011 MIJC Vice-Presidents and 87th President Dave Worthams.
The Year-End Celebration concludes with an optional Fellowship Breakfast on Sunday morning, a non-denominational Christian service hosted by your 2012 Chaplain, Krista Tocco.
About the hotel:
Our host hotel this weekend is the recently renovated Doubletree Hotel Bay City, a location we have not been to since August 2007. Reservations can be made by contacting the Doubletree Hotel directly at 800-222-TREE or 989-891-6000 and referencing, "Michigan Jaycees." The hotel block cutoff date is 01/19/2012.
